I moved to Arizona 7 years ago and instantly fell in love with the State. Sure, it has a few negatives. There is barely an intellectual community, not a single respectable private college, and generally no focus on education. But the state is beautiful, it has tons of cool cities like Tombstone, Tucson, Bisbee (once the biggest city in the State and one of the biggest cities west of the Mississippi, because of it’s copper), Naco (the only place in the continental United States every bombed by a foreign government), Nogales, Flagstaff, Sedona, Jerome, and more. The weather is great, the scenery is beautiful, the people are great. Everyone is friendly. There is no hositility. You can’t even find a fight if you go looking for one. There are tons of small business owners, and the state has a bit of a libertarian/wild west attitude — do what you want, just don’t mess with me. It’s a conservative state, and yet it is the only state in which the people of the state voted down an anti-gay law. Yes, believe it or not, Arizona sticks up for it’s gays. Your drivers license won’t expire for 60 years after you get it, and if you lose it, you can order it online for $5 and it’ll show up 2 days later. Their is an unfortunately amount of air pollution in Phoenix, but hopefully that will improve with time. There are plenty of organizations working on the cause.
